Prevention of Marijuana Use by Youth

Quote and links by Janie Carter, the Drug Free Coalition Project Director and Drug Free Ashley County Chair:

“Some of you know that I recently read a book by Laura Stack, entitled  Johnny Stack’s Life and Death Story: the dangerous Truth about today’s Marijuana.  Robert Holt has generously volunteered to pay for a conference on marijuana prevention that will be  streamed on July 10-11.  As we educate our youth, parents, and community on what our students tell us is the second biggest drug problem in Ashley County, I encourage you to become familiar with some of these resources and preventative recommendations. This is a 3 1/2 minute video clip that includes comments from Laura about the harms of today’s marijuana.”

“Here are some other resources that deal with marijuana and suicide.  Numerous parents and researchers claim that the high potency marijuana causes psychosis that leads to suicide. Most of these have to do with Colorado because that is where the Stack family lives and because it was the first state to legalize marijuana.  Johnny was able to get a  “medical” card without his parents’ knowledge or consent.”

“Sure hope everyone is having a blessed day.”
