2023 Stop Overdose Summit

Eric stated that this is one conference where everyone is working collaboratively to address and combat the overdose crisis in our state.  See the description of the five available session tracks below.  This is a one-day conference (8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)  Carpooling could be arranged, and we could hang together for meals and breaks. What a great experience we will have getting better acquainted and working together for positive change in our community.  An alarming statistic is that in 2022, Ashley County was reported to have 30 overdose deaths per capita (that is, compared to 100,000 people).  In 2020, we were actually the #1 county for opioid overdose deaths at 15 per 100,000.  Two years later, we have moved to the #5 position of the 75 counties for all overdose deaths.  But moving from 15 per capita to 30 per capita doesn’t sound like improvement.  It is just more tragic.

Previously called the Prescription Drug Summit, the event is now entitled the Stop Overdose Summit and will be held on Wednesday, November 8th at the Little Rock Statehouse Convention Center for the 12th annual summit. This event is FREE and open to the public.

The Summit features five breakout tracks:

• Family track – For any family and friends impacted by opioid abuse
• Education/Prevention track – Educators, Community coalitions and anyone involved or interested in the education and prevention of opioid abuse
• Criminal Justice track – Law Enforcement community
• Counseling/Recovery track – Anyone who is involved in the counseling and recovery field
• Clinical track – Pharmacists, Nurses, Doctors and others in medical field
